Having a dog reminds me to slow down, breath deeper, and reconnect with my body. And honestly? The benefits are backed by science:

🌿 Companionship calms the nervous system
Petting or just being near a dog increases oxytocin, the same hormone that helps soften stress, regulate cortisol, and bring us back into safety mode.

🚶‍♀️ They get us moving
Even a short walk boosts circulation, lymph flow, blood sugar balance, and mitochondrial function. Movement doesn’t have to be structured… sometimes it’s just following little paws wherever they take you.

☀️ They get us outside
Fresh air, sunlight, nature sounds are all simple inputs that regulate circadian rhythm, lift mood, and lower inflammation.

Dogs don’t care how productive we were today. They nudge us toward presence, play, and joy, three things most of our nervous systems are starving for.
